Hello! Welcome back! I have been eager to share this card with you for about a week now and I have finally found some time to sit in front of my computer and upload the pictures. Yeah! Anyway, moving on…
I ordered a few stamp sets from Your Next Stamp earlier this year and I just thought they were absolutely adorable. I usually don’t go for little critters an such, I tend to stay with florals, but these are just so darn cute! Besides, I need cute little guys like these for kids’ birthday cards. I just so happen to attend my adorable great niece’s birthday party last weekend and that’s when I decided to make this card for her.
The card took me several hours… I used more techniques than I’m used to but I think it was absolutely worth it! The stamp set has a coordinating die set but when I ordered this stamp set they were sold out of the dies so I had to do a lot of fussy cutting. Whew! Also, I did plenty of coloring. I used regular Crayola color pencils, I just had to be patient and and did multiple layers so that I could blend colors and create darker and lighter areas. For the background I used the Ranger blending tools and masked the sky portion to color the grass and then I masked the grass and colored the sky… THEN… I used a spritzer to create a distressed effect and soaked up the water after about 20 seconds with a paper towel.
For the greeting, I masked several letters off of the little greetings that came with the stamp set and stamped a few letters at a time as this particular greeting is not part of the stamp set. The word “Birthday” is from Papertrey Ink as well as the mason jar. The stitched rectangle for the background as well as the scalloped rectangle are from Lawn Fawn… and lastly, I loaded the butterfly’s and dragonfly’s wings, the ladybug’s spots and face as well as the spots on the little worm with about 3 layers of Wink of Stella. Oh My! You should see it in the sunlight! I literally dragged my husband outside so he could see it too! Ha! Bless his heart, the things he puts up with. But he was a good sport and said it was “pretty cool”!
I hope this inspired you to create something cute and fun! Thanks for stopping by!
