Hey there!  Today I have a cute little card using the Spring Birds stamp set from Your Next Stamp.  I created this one for the Your Next Stamp Color Challenge #39.

These birdies are just so fun!  I left the greeting as “Tweet, Tweet” and will place a more specific greeting on the inside when I decide how I will use it.

The color chart for the challenge is below!

See you back soon!

A Buggie Birthday

Hello!  Welcome back!  I have been eager to share this card with you for about a week now and I have finally found some time to sit in front of my computer and upload the pictures. Yeah!  Anyway, moving on…

I ordered a few stamp sets from Your Next Stamp earlier this year and I just thought they were absolutely adorable.  I usually don’t go for little critters an such, I tend to stay with florals, but these are just so darn cute! Besides, I need cute little guys like these for kids’ birthday cards.  I just so happen to attend my adorable great niece’s birthday party last weekend and that’s when I decided to make this card for her.

The card took me several hours… I used more techniques than I’m used to but I think it was absolutely worth it!  The stamp set has a coordinating die set but when I ordered this stamp set they were sold out of the dies so I had to do a lot of fussy cutting.  Whew!  Also, I did plenty of coloring.  I used regular Crayola color pencils, I just had to be patient and and did multiple layers so that I could blend colors and create darker and lighter areas. For the background I used the Ranger blending tools and masked the sky portion to color the grass and then I masked the grass and colored the sky… THEN… I used a spritzer to create a distressed effect and soaked up the water after about 20 seconds with a paper towel.

For the greeting, I masked several letters off of the little greetings that came with the stamp set and stamped a few letters at a time as this particular greeting is not part of the stamp set.  The word “Birthday” is from Papertrey Ink as well as the mason jar. The stitched rectangle for the background as well as the scalloped rectangle are from Lawn Fawn… and lastly, I loaded the butterfly’s and dragonfly’s wings, the ladybug’s spots and face as well as the spots on the little worm with about 3 layers of Wink of Stella.  Oh My!  You should see it in the sunlight!  I literally dragged my husband outside so he could see it too!  Ha!  Bless his heart, the things he puts up with.  But he was a good sport and said it was “pretty cool”!

I hope this inspired you to create something cute and fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Teal Birthday Wishes

Oh, how I love Daylight Saving Time!  It’s a little rough at first but gaining more hours of sun is worth it for me!  I get to come home after work and I still have time to take pictures of my latest creations, as opposed  to having to wait until the weekend and attempting to find a little bit of spare time then to take the pictures.  Not to mention that now my days simply seem longer.  🙂

Moving on to on my latest little project… I was able to take this picture today when I got home from work.  See why I love Daylight Saving Time?!

I used The Cutting Garden stamp set and matching dies from Papertrey Ink, Rectangular Stitched dies from both the “Large” and “Small” collection from Lawn Fawn and stamping pads from Stampin Up!

I tried a new combination of colors (new for me).  I wasn’t sure of how much I would like it once finished, but I’ve got to say I quite like it!  I tried to use a solid teal or blue for the base of the card but it seemed too bold.  Then, I found this pretty polka-dotted paper in my stash and it worked out nicely!  Woohoo! Lastly, I added some iridescent sequence that I got at Hobby Lobby and voila!!

I need to build up my birthday card stash so I can have them at hand when needed, instead of running around like a chicken with my head-cut off on the day that I need them. *Insert ashamed emoji here* Ha!  So, as I build up the stash I’ll be creating and sharing here.

Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon.  😉

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers everywhere!  Such a special day today.

To celebrate I have this Happy Mother’s Day card made mostly with stamps and dies from one of my recent Papertrey Ink purchases. I love this happy little bird!  It’s perched on its flowering branch looking at the world in wonder.

Here is a closer look! The stamping was a little splotchy as the stamps are still very new. They need a little more love before they stamp evenly, I think.

I hope you enjoyed.  Thanks for stopping by!  🙂
