Hello there! Welcome to my Paper Passion blog! Let’s just dive in and get started, shall we? I created this card, yesterday, with several things in mind. Mother’s Day is next month and I also have a stamp set from Papertrey Ink that I ordered and received a couple of weeks ago and I hadn’t had a chance to use! So, I decided to make a Mother’s Day card with my new stamp set. I’m so happy that I finally got my hands on it!
The stamp set is called Spring Woods along with the Spring Woods die. I absolutely love it and I’m sure that I will be using it in many more projects to come, which I hope to share with all of you!
The inspiration for this card came mostly from my sweet Mama. She loves flowers and gardening more so than I do and i just had to make a very floral card that reminds me of spring, sunshine and her. 😉 I also decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to use floral paper because I have a lot of it. I read a recent post by Julia Altermann with Just One More Card where she created the cutest card and used a patterned paper background. I love her cards and videos! On her blog post she mentioned that she has a difficult time using patterned paper, and I thought “So do I!” I have multiple patterned paper stacks because they look so lovely on display and I always think I will come up with something awesome to use them on, however, I just don’t know how to pair them with more patterns. When I do pull them out, I usually end up with a big mess and end up trashing the project. 😦 So, I challenged myself for this card and I’ve decided to create more cards with those lovely patterns. I can’t get better if I don’t practice, right?!
I also used a piece of soft white vellum with a pretty pattern to soften some of the background. And I just love the lace punch from Martha Stewart. I’ve had it a while and thought, why not? Mom loves lace-y things, too! The die that I used with the glitter paper is called Reflection by Spellbinders and the cutting template for the clock is from Momenta (found at Hobby Lobby).
Oh, I just really like this greeting! Also from Papertrey Ink and it’s their Boutique Borders: Mother stamp set by Dawn McVey (another one of my favorite card makers). I decided to add a little splash of color up top with a couple of leaves from the Stitched Leaves lawn cuts from Lawn Fawn. Then, the finishing touch is the tiny paper clip from Tim Holtz to attach the greeting to the leaves.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed and come back soon!
